Many years ago while stepping off the back of a construction truck; I sustained an injury involving my back. I stepped down onto a sheet of ice and my legs went out from under me causing me to fall on my back quite awkwardly. From that moment on I lived in back pain for many years to come. So, why am I telling you this? Because today there have been many advances and studies related to what causes back pain and new ways to cure this chronic back pain.
First let me tell you about the reality of this type of injury and how it affected my life from that day on. The very next day I woke up at my regular scheduled time to get ready for work, discovering that I could hardly move my legs and I witnessed excruciating pain in my back! We lived at that time in a two story farm house and my bedroom was on the second floor. I literally crawled down the steps on my hands and knees because the pain that was coming from my lower back was so intense I could not even stand properly. In fact I made it to work that day and it probably was the longest day of my electrical career. As the day went on the pain eased somewhat but when I returned home the pain returned and I was laid up for the next few days.
I made several trips to a chiropractor, I never even knew what they did or what to expect. After several x-rays and back adjustments from the chiropractor I returned to work in a somewhat normal life. Unknowing to me my back pain would return. As I was walking about my yard one day I stepped wrong, like I was anticipating a step but it wasn’t there. I felt the same back pain as before. It took a few days but I regained my composure and began feeling good again. This was not the last time this happened; it happen several times between my younger years and until I reached my fifties. I spent many dollars on chiropractic care, ointments, rubs, and plus time I missed from work.
It wasn’t until recently I discovered alternative back pain remedies, ways to eliminate back pain once and forever. There are many new techniques available through scientific discovery and our ancient fore fathers. A few of these new break innovations are discussed below.
• Our Posture-Have you ever noticed how people sit or stand lately? Most office chairs or the chairs we sit in at home are not designed for proper back alignment. You have heard the term “lumbar” I am sure. Lumbar is the curved part of our back that meets are buttocks, this area of the back needs proper support. Make sure that your office or home chairs have proper back support.
• Trigger Point Therapy-It is estimated that over 86 million people world-wide suffer from various types of chronic back pain. One interesting point can be made is that 75% of these people suffer from trigger points which cause their pain. Trigger points cause muscles and tissues to tighten and shorten. These masses of muscle cause much pain and discomfort, they are called trigger points. Trigger points cause muscle imbalance and thus cause pain. This is what happens when you stretch your muscles wrong or even like I did, step wrong. Using special pushing techniques, your doctor can eliminate this type of pain; this is called trigger point therapy.
• Inversion Therapy-We have all heard of NASA and the space program, but did you realize that our space program promoted back pain cures? It really wasn’t discovered by NASA, but actually discovered over 2000 years ago, and it is called spinal decompression. As we grow older we have a tendency to shrink. This shrinking is caused by gravity. When we stand or sit the pull of gravity especially as we age compresses our spine, causing shrinkage in some people, several inches. By using what is called an Inversion Table will actually return our spine back to a more normal position. This type of therapy can eliminate most back problems.
It would have been great to have access to these types of treatments years ago but we learn about new things each and everyday. For more information on these treatments and other back pain remedies visit our website at http://paininmyback.net/ .
